Well, the price cut is a bit deceiving too.

The world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has slashed the price of its flagship smartphone Mi4 64GB version in India, says an official Facebook post of the company.
The Facebook post of Xiaomi read “Our well-loved Mi 4 64GB is now Rs. 4,000 off. Available for Rs.19,999, down from the original launch price of Rs.23,999. Lower costs have enabled us to reduce the price of Mi 4 64GB, and this translates into savings that our Mi fans can enjoy.”
Even as the company claims that the device is getting a sharp Rs. 4000 discount, in reality, the statement is a bit deceiving. Xiaomi originally launched the Mi4 64GB version in India with a price tag of Rs. 23,000, but within two months into the sale the company reduced the price to Rs, 21,000, giving a discount of Rs. 2000. Now, coming to the latest discount, Xiaomi has only reduced Rs. 2000 and is boasting of Rs. 4000 off (Rs. 19,999), as if people are oblivious about what it did two months back.
The current offer is available only for the 64GB version of Xiaomi Mi4. One the other hand the 16GB version of Mi4 is still sold at a comparatively higher cost of Rs. 17,999.
Adding to the excitement over the price cut came the announcement of Flipkart, the online retail partners of Xiaomi, that it is offering cash back deals on both 16 GB and 64 GB versions of the device. Buyers who have an old smartphone to trade-in can get a discount of up to Rs.5000. Buyers who avail a full Rs. 5000 cash back will get Mi 4 16 GB and 64Gb for Rs.12,999 and Rs. 14,999, respectively.
Last week, OnePlus, another Chinese maker with global outreach, had slashed the price of OnePlus One to $250 for the 16 GB version and $300 for the 32 GB model. This price cut is only valid in countries such as US, Canada and Europe Union.
Xiaomi Mi4 is powered with a premium 4G enabled 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. The phone features a 13 MP camera like Mi3 with HD Recording and an upgraded front camera with 8 MP for taking selfies and video conferencing. The device is backed by a 3000 mAh battery that can last or more than a day. The Mi 4 features a metal chassis with a removable back panel made out of plastic. The device is compact and lighter than Mi 3.
