WASHINGTON, DC: An Indian American made her music video debut in Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money’ last week.
Sanam, an artist who Rihanna found on Instagram and then approached via the social photo sharing network to be in the video, also works at a plant store, and has counted Rihanna among her Instagram followers for a few months leading up to the music video shoot.
According to Cosmopolitan, after Rihanna briefly unfollowed Sanam then followed her again, the singer sent her a direct message.
“The next morning, I went to work, and I got a DM from her on Instagram,” Sanam said. “She was like, ‘Hey, I have this idea I want to run by you. I think you’re so fucking rare. Let me know if you’re interested.'”
She was then contacted by someone at the production company who explained that they wanted her to be in the video and asked her to come to Los Angeles the next day.
On the set, Rihanna informed Sanam she was actually nervous to DM her because she didn’t know if Sanam would be on board, and when Sanam had the flu during shooting, Rihanna kept offering to get her medicine and anything else that might make her feel better, reported Cosmopolitan.
“She followed me on Instagram on a Wednesday night, and then I was in L.A. on Friday morning,” Sanam explained. “It was crazy.”
