Indian American organizations are preparing to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s September’s Silicon Valley visit a historic event.
Modi is visiting the technological hub of the world on September 27, where he will address the Indian Diaspora at the SAP Center in San Jose.
This will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to California in the last 33 years. It will allow Modi to connect the biggest hub of technology with the world’s largest customer base – India.
To ensure a unique welcome to Modi, about 400 representatives from more than 160 Indian American organizations held a meeting on August 9 in the Valley. The meeting was organized by Indo-American Community of West Coast (IACWC).
To manage the huge crowd expected to attend the event, the meeting decided to hold a registration process. The registration will be done through www.pmmodiinca.org
The majority of the passes to attend the event will be distributed through partnering organizations, which were asked to register through the website.
After launching this website, BJP’s National General Secretary Ram Madhav said that Modi had three main objectives – unity, security, and prosperity. Community events of this kind around the world would help him communicate his objectives to a larger audience, he added.
The event’s convener, Khanderao Kand, praised IACWC for providing a platform to bring together the entire community, regardless of language, culture, religion or profession.
The Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and the Indian Consul General in San Francisco, Venkatesan Ashok, attended the meeting.
