Former Indian Model and actress Raveena Tandon, who arrived in Los Angeles for an Independence Day event, was allegedly harassed by one of the event organizers, who according to her was drunk.
Raveena tweeted on Sunday “In LA after two glorious days, of spending the Independence Day celebrations – sadly a bad ending. All was going well till a drunk got on stage.”
According to her, an event organizer named Neeraj Agnihotri misbehaved with her and passed lewd comments after he came up to the stage, fully drunk.
Her tweet says, “Neeraj Agnihotri started misbehaving, and padding comments, sadly all security was down and couldn’t get to him first”.
According to the actress, the organizer had expressed his wish to travel in her car along with his kids, which couldn’t be granted due to security and protocol issues.
Raveena said, Neeraj walked into the stage and started pouring nasty remarks at her. She had to yell for help from other organizers who later took him off the stage. She also acknowledged that they exchanged a few offensive words.
“But yes I did give him a piece of my mind too. That’s no way to talk to anyone – when I didn’t even know what he was upset about,” she added.
was 1of the organisers n was upset dat his kids didn't get to travel in my car with me to the event, which security n protocol didn't allow

Raveena, who appeared in a short film ‘Jai Hind’, which pays homage to freedom fighters, added that she met so many nice people in the US, but the act of one guy played spoilsport and destroyed the otherwise fabulous evening that showcased an amazing event.

From what is alleged by the organizers, she was tardy in attending a reception the day before the event and late in coming to the main event. She showed up at 9-20 pm, when she was supposed to be there at 8pm, as per her contract and the function had to end at 10 pm according to the city ordinance, She blamed a cold, a tardy limo and lack of communication from the organizers.
I don’t see the point of importing a VIP from India paying them 25K or more for an occasion, which is a celebration of Indian Independence. The money could have been well spent donating to a non-profit entity like- Akshay Patra, which uses 100 % of the donation, to feed over fourteen million hungry children and school children. Why not celebrate this day as “Independence From Hunger” ?
Also. August, happens to be one of the hottest month, in LA. and not very conducive for mass celebrations in an open arena.
To be fair to her and other guests, most of the Indian functions are poorly organized with too many people running around with no one in charge. Instead of Pacific Standard Time, the norm is to follow Indian Standard time! and the shows are crammed with too many performances for the given time slot and the same politicians are seen in every function and few of them are clearly using this platform as a political campaign.
From all accounts, it is becoming clear that she breached the contract and insulted the organizers and was paid over 20K for that privilege! She is also seen not respecting the National Anthem, when everyone else had their hand on their chest.
The organizers were representing the community and the community has been insulted.
