Bhola was attacked by unidentified persons near his apartment when he was returning home from work. He was stabbed several times and died on the spot.

The supporters of Khalsa, who is a resident of the US, have said that the government tried several times to stop the hunger strike, and the murder was another such attempt to make Khalsa give up his protests.
