Indians who remit money from the US feel less stress at work in the US, and feel they are overqualified for the job, according to a survey by a popular money transfer company.
The survey conducted by Transfast also reveals that a majority of respondents preferred to spend their retired life in India but feel that the “US is a land of opportunity”.
According to Transfast, 500 Indian immigrants living in the US responded to the survey.
Transfast CEO Samish Kumar said in a statement, “People who come here for work are playing vital economic roles by contributing to the US economy and also adding to the GDP of their home country when they send money back to family and friends.”
Interestingly, 83% of the respondents felt that they are overqualified for the work that they are currently pursuing in the US. Another 63% testified that the workplace atmosphere in the US is far better than what they experienced in India, which for them was highly stressful.
Even though 61% of the respondents felt satisfied with the current package, another 64% felt they are doing overtime to catch up to the anticipated income – out of which 60% says they work more than 40 hours a week, which makes them eligible for receiving additional overtime bonus salaries.
The survey also says that only 39% of respondents felt they work less than what they expected but still 83% of Indian workers are of the opinion that the US gave them better opportunities to build a career when compared with their jobs back in India.
