Even as media and online communities in India continue to condemn incidents of rapes in the country, there seems to be no respite to the cruelty committed against women. In yet another gruesome incident, a 14-year old girl was brutally gang raped and murdered in Sonepat, Haryana, while she was returning with her family after watching the Dussehra celebrations on Thursday night.
According to a report published by the Times of India, the minor girl was raped and murdered by a gang of five men who were later arrested by the Kundli Police.
Sources familiar to the Times confirmed that the girl was returning from a Dussehra celebration in Narela area of Delhi. She was with her brother on a cycle when the accused, who were allegedly drunk and on-board an auto rickshaw, attacked the family and forcibly pushed her into the auto. Though her mother tried chasing down the auto, her efforts went in vain.
The men later took the girl to an isolated area and raped her. This time,
The family rushed to the police station and provided all the details of the kidnappers, but they were too late to stop the untoward incident.
According to Police, an accused Praveen Kumar, who first confessed to the crime, took them to the location where they committed the rape, and also accompanied the police to recovering the body of the girl.
Kundli Police has also arrested three other accused who were involved in the rape and murder of the girl. Three of the alleged rapists are Nitin, Deepak and Karan. All are employed as auto-rickshaw drivers.
Earlier, two young girls were raped in the capital city, which is infamous for rape and attack against women. Even though the police and government say they are doing enough to curb such incident, it seems like none of their methods have been efficient.
The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal had lashed out against the central government and the law enforcement for not doing enough.
