Superstars continued to churn out hits.

Even though some new generation actors failed to get huge momentum, the well-known superstars had a wonderful journey throughout 2015.
Here’s the top five most successful Bollywood actors of 2015, who had some memorable roles to their name too.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan has made it to the top of the list of the most successful Bollywood actors with his performance in the comedy-drama ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, directed by Kabir Khan. The actor, who got embroiled in legal battles through the year, made his character “Bajrangi” unforgettable.
In the movie, Salman embarks on a daunting journey taking a six-year-old Pakistani girl separated from her parents, back to her hometown across the volatile Indo-Pak border. Bajrangi Bhaijaan went on to become a blockbuster film earning ₹6.26 billion worldwide and is the second highest grossing Indian film ever after Aamir Khan’s PK. The movie also became the most watched Bollywood movie in the history of Indian television.
Amitabh Bachchan
Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan made a statement through his performance in the comedy Drama ‘Piku’, that he is second to none when it comes to acting.
Even as Bachchan is inching close to 50 years in the industry, Bollywood is yet to find a replacement for him when it comes to roles such as the one he did in ‘Piku’, that of a chronic constipation patient who traces every problem’s root to his bowel movements. The film, directed by Shoojit Sircar, had Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan playing prominent roles. ‘Piku’, made on a budget of ₹420 million ($6.3 million), earned ₹1.04 billion ($16 million) worldwide. The movie tells the story of a quick-tempered daughter who embarks on a journey to Kolkata along with her aging father, played by Amitabh Bachchan. Irfan Khan, who takes the duo in his taxi, is stuck between the father-daughter tantrums.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was a name unknown to most Hindi film fans till 2012 despite his debut in the industry almost a decade before. The actor rose to fame after his notable performances in the Bollywood movies ‘Kahaani’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.
Siddiqui made it to third position in the list of the most successful actors of the year 2015 for his inspiring role in the movie ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’, directed by Ketan Mehta. Dashrath Manjhi played by Siddiqui was a real life character who lived in a small village Gehlaur near Gaya, Bihar. There was a rocky mountain near the village and people had to either climb across or travel round to gain access to and since then Manjhi started digging the hill to carve out a road. After 22 years, Manjhi makes 360 feet long, 25 feet deep and 30 feet wide path. The Bihar state government declared the film tax-free.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most trustworthy actors in Bollywood as his movies are a sure bet for the sheer star value the actor has in the industry. SRK fans had to wait until the end of 2015 to see their hero on the silver screen. The actor, despite the mixed reactions received for ‘Dilwale’, is the fourth most successful actor of this year. Khan plays the role of a gangster turned car mechanic in ‘Dilwale’ and his character is not an altogether new one. But none the less, the actor has done justice to the role and has once again brought magic back to the screen by pairing up with his evergreen heroine Kajol.
Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh is the fifth most successful actor in Bollywood for 2015 as his much-awaited movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making steady progress at the box office, and is all set to overtake Dilwale in the coming weeks.
‘Bajirao Mastani’, a movie which was initially announced in 2001, took over a decade to reach the final stage and, at last, the character of Bajirao Peshwa fell to Ranveer Singh, who is being applauded for the role. According to reports, Ranveer prepared eight hours a day to become the legendary general of the Maratha empire, of which two hours were reserved for physical training, four hours for horse-riding and two hours for speech and accent training.
