Popular Indian playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy will perform in the Richmond area on Sunday, March 20, 2016.
The venue of the concert, hosted by the Hindu Center of Virginia, will be Cultural Center of India in Chester, Virginia.
More than 600 people are expected to attend the concert, which will be a fundraiser event for the Hindu Center, according to the organizers.
“We promise you an evening of fun and a great social event to hook up with your friends and enjoy a wonderful dinner and musical concert,” said Sanjay Thirunagari, President, Executive Committee, Hindu Center of Virginia
It is the first time Krishnamurthy is performing in Richmond.
According to Sanjay Mittal, member of HCV Fund Raising Committee, Ms Krishnamurthy is traveling all the way from Bangalore specially for this concert.
“This is one of the few great entertainment events that the Hindu Center has organized in the recent past, and we, at the Hindu Center of Virginia, are excited to have Kavita Krishnamurthy come and perform here in Richmond,” said Vijay Ramnarain, Chairman, Board of Directors, HCV.
Born in 1958, she has sung hundreds of songs in different Indian languages. She won plaudits for her songs in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Devdas and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
A winner of Padma Shri, Krishnamurthy, who is married to violin maestro L. Subramaniam, has also won four Filmfare awards for playback singing.
Shishir Jha, Member of HCV Fund Raising Committee said that three more accomplished singers Ganesh, Priya and Shaurin will perform with Krishnamurthy during the Concert.
