Tamil young star Dhanush’s upcoming movie ‘Vada Chennai’ finally hit the floors on Wednesday with a pooja. Dhanush plays the lead role of a gangster in the directorial venture of Vetrimaaran, reported Indo-Asian News Service (IANS).
“#Vadachennai – Trilogy. Started shooting for part one today. Director of ‘Polladhavan’, ‘Aadukalam’ @VetriMaaran. Bless us,” Dhanush tweeted announcing the official launch of the film.
The film is planned as a trilogy that depicts 30 years in the life of a gangster. The story revolves around the gang wars of North Chennai.
According to the report, Dhanush will spend about 200 days for the shoot of the film produced by Lyca Productions and Wunderbar Films.
The long pending project of Vetrimaaran was supposed to begin in 2009 with Karthi in the lead role. Later Silambarasan aka Simbu was roped in when the filmmakers changed the plans. Finally, Dhanush was selected for the role of the gangster. The film also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani and Daniel Balaji.
This is the third time collaboration of Dhanush with Vetrimaaran. Dhanush won national award for the best actor for his performance in Vetrimaaran’s “Aadukalam.”
