The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a top female model from Bengaluru on charges of drug trafficking, on Thursday.
Darshitmita Gowda, who won the Miss Queen Karnataka contest in 2014, was arrested following an investigation started in November last year. According to the NCB officials, Gowda was an important part of a multi-state racket that supplied drugs to professionals and college students in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Goa, reported The Times of India.
Gowda was arrested when she appeared before the NCB. The NCB had issued her summons earlier. Various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act were charged against her.
On November 30, 2015, the NCB had raided an apartment in RT Nagar, Bengaluru where Gowda and her boyfriend Nishant lived. A total of 110g of cocaine, 19g of hashish, 1.2g of MDMA and one LSD blot were also seized from the apartment.
During interrogation, Nishant told that Gowda was an important link in the racket who managed the financial transactions of the gang. She is the fifth person arrested since the beginning of the investigation.
