In a shocking incident, a 36-year-old man killed his wife, chopped the body into pieces, and set the parts on fire about 24 kilometers away from their house in Hyderabad, on Sunday.
Rupesh Kumar Mohanani, a stock broker residing in Hyderabad’s Madhapur was enraged when his wife, a South African national, wanted a divorce from him; Hindustan Times reported quoting Cyderabad police.
Mohani and Cynthia had met in Congo where she worked as a club dancer. They married in in 2008 and moved to Hyderabad. Cynthia however had met and fallen in love with a Frenchman on Facebook and was planning to marry him.
A fierce quarrel broke out when she asked a divorce from her husband. Cynthia insisted on leaving, and wished to take their five-year-old daughter with her.
In a fit of rage, Mohanani strangled his wife and he used two knives and an axe to cut up the body into pieces and packed them in a suitcase. Their daughter was sleeping at that time.
In the evening, he drove to Madanapalli village near Shamshabad with his daughter, where he set the suitcase ablaze.
While returning, Mohanani’s vehicle got stuck in mud. Local people, who came to help, saw blood stains on the car. Suspicious, they held him down and alerted the police.
Police found the burning suitcase a few yards away and the body was sent for an autopsy to Gandhi Hospital.
The police said that the child doesn’t know what happened and sent with her father’s parents.
