To promote Chasa Institute of Design and Technology, based in Pune.
Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is all set to walk the ramp at the New York Fashion Week, on Thursday.
Fadnavis, the deputy vice president of a private bank, will be the showstopper for Chasa Institute of Design and Technology, based in Pune.
In the fashion extravaganza event to be held on September 8 in Manhattan, Amruta Fadnavis will promote the message of girls’ education and use of handloom.
Fadnavis will wear a unique Indo-western handloom attire designed by the students of Chasa Institute that educates the daughters of farmers and porters.
There will be 15 designs prepared by the students in the show choreographed by Lubna Adams.
“I will be walking the ramp to spread the message of girls’ education as these designs have come from girl children who are daughters of farmers and porters. It is a novel initiative. I believe when we educate a girl child, we educate a family. And when the family is educated, the country moves ahead,” Amruta told The Indian Express.
The models will hold placards showing the importance of women education and use of handloom.
This is not the first time Fadnavis is walking the ramps of a fashion show. Earlier, she had walked the ramp showcasing tribal art and handloom with the designs of Hemant Trivedi.
“With full support from my immediate family members, I can take up these causes and I am not bogged down by any criticism, especially from political quarters,” Fadnavis added.
Amruta has sung a song in Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajal’ starring Priyanka Chopra. She is also planning to adopt a village in Nagpur, Sekri, to develop it by providing necessary facilities.
