Leading overseas distribution company, Great India Films acquired the North American theatrical rights of ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ for more than $7 million (45 crores), Forbs.com reports.
The deal covers Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi languages rights in areas USA and Canada and it is a record for an Indian film.

“We paid over $7 million as royalty for all the languages for its theatrical rights. Yes it is a record for any Indian movie by miles,” Forbs.com quoted Great India Films’ Sudhakar Reddy.
The first part of the movie, Baahubali: The Beginning grossed more than 600 crore ($90.2 million) worldwide. The film’s North American distribution rights were sold to Blue Sky for 11 crore and it got grand openings in the US box office. It grossed 55.75 crore ($7 million) and became the highest grossing Indian film at Overseas.
The sequel, which stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan and Satyaraj, will unveil the answer for the question ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?’ is expected release on more than 1000 screens in North America.
The producers, Arka Media Works’ Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni, originally sold the film to K-Entertainment for a reported sum of $14.2 million (95 crore), which included the Tamil domestic market and overseas rights for Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
Great India Films, which was founded by Reddy and Soma Kancherla 12 years ago, has distributed about 50 tiltles, including the Telugu hits ‘Pokiri’, the first ‘Baahubali’ (in India only), ‘Adhurs’ and ‘Mirchi’.
The sequel, which is in the final stage of shooting and will wrap up by December, is slated to release on April 14, 2017.
Recently, the world famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, London confirmed its artists working on the wax statue of Prabhas in baahubali costume, which will be unveiled in March 2017 ahead of the release of the most awaited movie Baahubali 2 or Baahubali: The Conclusion.
