Also wrote the poet Tulsidas’ name 300 times.
Ruby Rai, the topper of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB)’s Class XII examination wrote the names of romantic Bollywood movies and the name of poet Tulsidas on her answer sheets, said a forensic report.
Rai wrote the name of Tulsidas 300 times and the names of 101 romantic Bollywood movies on her answer sheet which were later replaced with the papers written by experts, said Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj, who heads the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the Bihar’s topper scam.
“She wrote geography, political science, home science, English, Hindi and music papers sitting in the examination hall, but except for home science, the rest were later changed with those written by subject experts,” said Maharaj.
According to the report of forensic science laboratory (FSL), the handwriting on Rai’s answer sheets that made her the state topper did not match hers. Also, the duplicate answer sheets did not have the water mark of the education board.
According to the police, the answer sheets of some students were changed after they were sent to keep in the strong rooms in the district headquarters. The answer sheets were taken to Bishundeo Rai College, in Hajipur district where Ruby studied for replacing with papers written by experts.
“His associates wrote the correct answers on the sheets already available there. Finally, the new answer sheets were submitted in the strong room. The new answer sheets were fake as it did not have watermark logo of BSEB,” said Maharaj.
The police have arrested 40 people including Bacha Rai, the kingpin of the toppers scam and the director of Bishundeo Rai College, former education board chairman Lalkeswar Prasad Singh, his wife Usha Sinha, former MLC and ex-principal of Ganga Devi College.
Rai, who was arrested in June, is out on bail now. The police said the experts charged between Rupees 5,000 to 10,000 per paper.
The scam was brought to light when Rai struggled to answer basic questions in a TV interview that was aired after the results were declared. She said that political science included cooking and mispronouncing political science as “prodigal science,” during the interview.
Many experts have questioned the education system in Bihar after the scam came to light.
