Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan visits Amma.
Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa is being constantly monitored by a panel of expert doctors with necessary respiratory support, said a medical bulletin released by Chennai’s Apollo Hospital on Monday.
“Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa is being constantly monitored by intensivists and other consultants in the expert panel. Necessary respiratory support, antibiotics, nutrition, supportive therapy and passive physiotherapy are being given,” read the bulletin.
Jayalalithaa, the chief of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has been undergoing treatment in the hospital since September 22.
Last week the Madras High Court ordered Tamil Nadu state government to inform the court about the health status of the chief minister.
In the meanwhile, a group of high-profile personalities, including Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran visited Apollo Hospital, on Monday.
Pinarayi Vijayan said they had come to “convey the collective good wishes of the people of Kerala.”
Vijayan and Sathasivam met hospital CMD Prathap Reddy and held a discussion with him.
“We met Dr. Pathap Reddy and other doctors providing treatment to the Chief Minister. The specialists informed us that she was getting good response from the treatment,” Sathasivam told reporters.
“And within a short period, she is likely to be discharged and it is possible for her to take charge of administration. We also pray for her speedy recovery,” he added.
Kiran Bedi, who hoped to meet Jayalalithaa soon, said she would pray for the recovery of the chief minister.
“He (Prathap Reddy) said Amma (as Jayalalithaa is addressed) is under very good care and that she is progressing. I would like to pray for her to keep progressing. I have come here due to absolute respect as a neighbor as Puducherry is a neighboring state of Tamil Nadu and it is my duty to be here,” Bedi said.
Last week, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had visited Jayalalithaa.
The workers and supporters of AIADMK are conducting prayers across the state for their leader’s progress. The opposition parties in Tamil Nadu have asked AIADMK to release pictures or video of the chief minister to end the rumors about her condition.
Chennai police have arrested two people including a software engineer for allegedly spreading rumors about Jayalalithaa’s health condition.
