Shah Rukh Khan also had a similar experience at Los Angeles airport.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah  tweeted on Sunday that he was stopped at a New York airport for two hours for ‘random’ secondary security checks.
“Another “random†secondary immigration check upon landing in the US. Thrice in three visits, the randomness is growing tiresome now,†Omar Abdullah, who is in New York to speak at an event tweeted.
“I’m here to speak at an event organized by NYU but I almost wish I’d stayed at home instead. Ah well, that’s two hours well & truly wasted!!,†he further tweeted.
The 46-year-old politician also referred to actor Shah Rukh Khan’s experience at Los Angeles airport earlier this year when he was detained for the security check.
“I just spent TWO hours in a holding area & this happens EVERY time. Unlike @iamsrk I don’t even catch Pokemon to pass the time,†Omar Abdullah said in his tweet.
In August, Shah Rukh Khan has tweeted about his frustration after being detained at the US airport, the third time in seven years.
“I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really sucks. The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemon,†Khan tweeted.
Soon after his tweet the US Department of State had apologized to the 50-year-old actor. “Sorry for the hassle at the airport, @iamsrk – even American diplomats get pulled for extra screening!†Nisha Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, U S Department of State said in a tweet.
