Sakshi Tanwar plays Mahavir Singh Phogat’s wife
The much-awaited trailer of Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie ‘Dangal’ is out and it is worth the wait as the actor once again keeps up to the expectations of his fans by delivering a power packed performance.
Dangal is the biopic of Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who taught his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat wresting.
Aamir will be seen both as the young and the retired wrestler in the movie for which he had to make drastic physical changes. In the course of the shooting, Aamir had gained weight up to 95 kg to play the older part and later he reduced it to around 70 kg.
The trailer of Dangal portrays how his longing for having a son is dashed and he realizes that not just a son but a daughter too can bring honor to the sport and the country.
Television actor Sakshi Tanwar plays Mahavir Singh Phogat’s wife and his daughters Babita and Geeta are played by Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh respectively.
The title track, which is sung by Daler Mehendi also gives us the feel of the movie.
Mahavir’s elder daughter Geeta Phogat won India’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling (55 kg freestyle category) at the 2010 commonwealth Games and Babita Kumari won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Geeta was also the first-ever Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympics.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Disney India, ‘Dangal’ is slated to release on December 23, 2016.
