The video of a Pakistani trooper deployed with the country’s paramilitary police force – Frontier Constabulary – slapping a woman journalist has gone viral.
The woman journalist was reporting live issues faced by citizens in the National Database and Registration Authority office in Nazimabad when the Pakistani trooper slapped her.
In the video that has now gone viral on social media, the journalist can be seen asking the police officer to leave her camera person alone. Soon after this, the policeman can be seen slapping the woman journalist after which a few gunshots can be heard in the background while the cameraman falls to the ground.
According to The Financial Express, the Karachi police have registered a case against the police aggressor for molesting a woman and for aerial firing.
SSP Central Muqadas Hyder told the Pakistani media, “Gulbahar police have registered a case against the FC personnel over charges of conducting aerial firing and assaulting modesty of the female reporter of K-21 TV channel by slapping her.”
During the filming of the live show, the woman journalist can be heard repeatedly asking the police officer to stop bothering her cameraperson. When he ignores her incessant requests, she confronts him while the cameraman keeps on rolling.
The journalist can be heard saying, “If this is how he behaves with the media, think of how much worse the case is for the public.”
Salman Mujahid Bloch, MNA Pakistan (MQM) wrote on his Facebook wall, “”Strict action should be taken against this illiterate man who openly slapped our daughter/sister at Nadra office in Karachi.”
Kanwal Abidi, a TV journalist also posted on Facebook, “I highly condemn slapping by an FC guard on our female anchor – Saima Kanwal of K 21 news channel outside Nadra office in Karachi. Authorities. .. please take action against this monster. CM Murad Ali Shah where are you? CH Nisar should take strict action. ISI, please do something for female journalists protection. You are our only hope.”
In the meanwhile, Nadra officials have filed a counter FIR against the woman journalist for intentionally causing hindrance to a police officer for executing his duties.
