Her boyfriend remains missing.
A 30-year-old woman from South Carolina, who was reported missing along with her boyfriend in August, was found alive ‘chained like a dog’ inside a metal container.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told media that deputies heard Kala Brown banging on the walls of the container as they engaged in a search operation to find her and her boyfriend at the nearly 100-acre Woodruff property on Thursday.
“It was pretty emotional, to say the least,” CBS News quoted Wright. “When she was found, she was chained like a dog- she had a chain around her neck. It’s only by God’s grace we found that little girl alive.”
Brown told deputies that she had been kept in the container for two months and had been fed regularly. Carver, 32, remains missing.
A registered sex offender identified as Todd Christopher Kohlhepp was in the property during the search operation has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
Police is also investigating Browns statement that there may be four bodies on the property, but they aren’t sure whether that’s true.
“We’re trying to make sure that we don’t have a serial killer on our hand,” Wright said. “It very possibly could be what we have.”
Kohlhepp, 45, is a licensed real estate agent as well as a licensed pilot. The national sex offender registry list a kidnapping count for him in Arizona in 1987.
