Google used the doodle designed by Anvita Prashant Telang, a 14-year-old student of Vibgyor High School in Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, to celebrate Children’s Day, on Monday.
Telang was selected from a national competition held by Google. The ‘Doodle 4 Google’ contest was held early this year on the theme “If I could teach anyone anything, it would be…” and Telang’s inspiring design titled ‘Enjoy Every Moment’ won the competition, reported IANS.
“I am very happy… Since the time the doodle went up, I have been getting congratulatory messages from friends and others… They all want a party,” Telang told IANS.
The doodle portrays a group of small boys and girls having fun, hanging from tree branches, playing with water, balloons, kites, flying and even daydreaming, in the backdrop of flowers, butterflies, flying fish, birds and other aquatic life.
Telang wanted to showcase “how to value little and simple things in our lives as they are great sources of happiness” through her work. She wanted everyone to live a stress-free life by appreciating simple things in life for “a better world and healthy lifestyle.”
“Her creativity and vision towards developing ‘a better world and healthy lifestyle’ is well reflected through her colorful doodle where she has showcased how everyone should ‘Enjoy Every Moment’ and appreciate the simple things around us and live a stress-free life,” Sapna Chadha, Head of Marketing, Google India said.
“With Doodle4Google competition, we aim to celebrate and promote creativity, passion, and imagination in our younger users,” Chadha said.
Google started doodle competition from 2009 onwards. Each year, the competition is welcomed with overwhelming participation by children from across the nation. The competition was tougher this year with children participating from 50 cities in India.
Shrisha of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Vishakhapatnam (Class I-III), and Akashdeep of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ranchi (Class VII-X) were the winners in other categories. This year’s jury included political cartoonist Ajit Ninan, Art Director Savio Mascarenhas, popular creative artist Rob and Doodle team lead Ryan Germick.
