Joel Husk has posted other derogatory matter.
An Alabama police officer has been fired for posting racist memes about First Lady Michelle Obama on his Facebook page.
According to a report by The Washington Post, Talladega Police Officer Joel Husk was removed from service on Wednesday for violating the social media and code of conduct policies of the department.
City Manager Patrick Bryant said that the statement of Husk was “deemed to be biased or racially insensitive or derogatory” and the department has to take action to correct it.
“As public employees, and especially law enforcement officers, we have a standard of excellence to uphold,” Bryant told Washington Post.
Husk shared a meme on his Facebook page showing pictures of Melania Trump with the words, “Fluent in Slovenian, English, French, Serbian and German” over it and another photo of Michelle Obama with the words “Fluent in Ghetto.”
“We will not tolerate that kind of conduct by any employees. We take very seriously our responsibility to treat everyone equally and equitably. We have to make sure we take steps for the community to trust us,” said Bryant.
Husk has shared several posts showing hatred towards Blacks. On a post shared by him from the Facebook group ‘Last American Patriots,’ a photo of bodies lying on a battlefield can be seen with the caption, “Over 620,000 white people died to free black slaves and still to this day, not even 1 thank you,” according to Bryant.
Husk has shared another meme showing Klansmen carrying a Confederate flag.
“The KKK is a hate group, right? Isn’t it about time we start being honest in America . . . and admit that #blacklivesmatter is also a hate group?” it read.
The incident comes days after, Pamela Ramsey Taylor, the mayor of a West Virginia town resigned following a public outrage over her Facebook post praising a friend’s Facebook post calling Obama an “ape in heels.”
Last week, David Barber, a higher jail official in Memphis, Tennessee had to resign after posting a racist Facebook post about president Barack Obama.
