Video removed from YouTube.
A graphic designer has been arrested by Hyderabad police for allegedly stealing and leaking footage from the much-awaited movie Baahubali 2.
The arrested has been identified as Krishna Dyanand Chowdhary, who works as an assistant graphic designer at the Annapoorna Studio in Hyderabad, where the editing of the film is going on.
India Today reported that SS Rajamouli, the director of the movie, filed a complaint with the police after noticing that unfinished footage from the movie was doing rounds on social media. According to the report, Chowdhary stole a six-minute-long video from the server and shared the same with some of his friends.
The video went viral on social media after being first uploaded on YouTube. Acting swiftly, the movie makers succeeded in removing the video from YouTube after noticing the leak.
“One of the producers approached us and filed a complaint regarding the leak. We have registered a case under Section 66 RW 43 of the IT Act and Section 63 of the Copyright Act and are investigating the case. The police have arrested Krishna Dyanand Chowdhary for his alleged role in the leak,” Assistant Commissioner of Police, KCS Raghuveer (Cyber Crime Cell, Hyderabad Police) told India Today.
The stolen footage is reportedly a six-minute-long video which is believed to be the climax sequence of the movie which is slated to release on April 28, 2017. The clip features characters played by Prabhas and Anushka Shetty.
“It is very unfortunate that a small unfinished video clip of @BaahubaliMovie was leaked online yesterday. Person responsible for the leak was identified with the help of security features in place and was arrested late last night by police and handed over to cyber crime,” tweeted Shobu Yarlagadda of Arka Mediaworks that produces the film.
The first part of the film, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, had broken several records and fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of the second part.
It has been reported that the second part will feature a huge war sequence, much grander than what was shown in the first part; that will last for around an hour.
Originally to be made in Telugu, ‘Baahubali 2’ will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam as well.
