The mirror goes on sleep mode after 45 second.
Apple has always made it a point to bring surprises and when a New Yorker named Rafael Dymek created a mirror that runs on modified version of iOS 10, Apple fans thought Apple is pitching a new idea into the tech world.
Rafael Dymek, a web developer, and graphic designer created a fully functioning touchscreen mirror that runs the latest version of iOS, providing all options, including video streaming and instant messaging.
The video of Dymek using the mirror has become viral on social media as may people thought the new video could be Apple’s next innovation from the Cupertino-based company. But, Dymek just reproduced the iOS features to an augmented interface that can run on any surfaces including the back of a modified desktop.
The so-called “Apple Mirror” home screen has the clock on the top right side and the weather forecast on the top left. Below these are several Apple apps neatly arranged and movable with the drag of a finger.
A light tap on any of the app will open it seamlessly like on an iPhone or iPad and allow to easily multi-task.
Dymek in the video shows some apps working without any hiccups on his modified iOS interface. Uber, watch Netflix, read the news, control a Nest thermostat and smart light bulbs, control output to a Sonos speaker system using the mirror.
If the user doesn’t respond to the interface in 45 minutes, the mirror automatically goes to the sleep mode and the device turns into a normal mirror until the user taps on it once again to wake it up.
In the video posted on YouTube, Mr. Dymek said: ‘Say I want to wake it up, I simply touch anywhere on the mirror, and everything comes back up.’ He also added, ‘Say I’m running late, I can pull up Facebook Messenger, and quickly message my friends from there to tell them I’ll be late.’
As of now Dymek has no intention of taking the concept to commercial production, and has Apple not commented on the video.
‘This mirror was created as a personal project and is in no way being used for commercial reasons.
‘I admire Apple’s vision and approach to creating revolutionary products.
‘My only goal for this project was to create something useful that I could see myself using’
