Parents had warned discontinuing financial support for him.
In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old unemployed son killed parents in Tennessee after they reportedly warned discontinuing financial support for him.
According to Knox County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Michael K. MacLean, Joel Mchael Guy Jr. came to visit his parents during the Thanksgiving dinner at their West Knox County home along with his two sisters. His sisters left for their homes after the dinner but Joel stayed back with an insidious intention.
MacLean said sometime in between Friday night and mid-day Saturday, Joel attacked his parents with a knife in the most brutal ways and mutilated their bodies into small pieces and stacked it into acid solution in an attempt to cover up the gruesome murder.
“Joel placed pieces of the bodies in an acid-based solution in an attempt to destroy evidence,” said MacLean, who commands the Major Crimes Unit at the Sheriff’s Office.
MacLean also added that the acid solution used by Joel was something that anyone can make watching tutorials on the internet suing household chemicals.
“It’s the kind of thing you can get off the internet,” MacLean said.
After committing the bone-chilling homicide, Joel left the house unlocked and returned to his house in Baton Rouge from where detectives arrested him on Tuesday.
MacLean said detectives Monday had obtained two warrants charging Joel Guy Jr. with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his 55-year-old mother and his 61-year-old father. The FBI got involved in the case because MacLean sought a federal fugitive warrant.
According to authorities, the murder came to light on Monday when Lisa Suy’s employer called the police informing that she didn’t turn up for an important meeting that she will never miss. On the first search attempt the police found the house open and left the scene unsuspected but when Lisa’s employer insisted a second search team was sent and when one of the officers peeped in through the window he saw what the police describe as the evidence of a “violent crime.”
Officers have found clear signs of a struggle inside the home and suspect the involvement of a second murderer as they think Joel Guy Jr. “would not be able to overpower his father.”
Lisa and Joel Guy Sr. were preparing to relocate to Rogersville, Tenn., to a long-owned home. They recently sold their Goldenview Lane house that they bought in 2007 for $237,500.
“The new owners actually came by while we were at the home,” MacLean said.
The police have kept much of the details about the gruesome murder to themselves as they think releasing information about the killings to public might harmed the investigation.
“It would have made it much harder to make arrests if we had released information on these cases,” Jones said Wednesday. “It’s clear these individuals were following social media.”
