Students from local Salangai Arts school to perform at the event.
Dancers from Salangai Arts, a Bharatanatyam dance school in the Washington, DC, area, will perform to raise funds for a school in Bangalore on March 25.
The Cauvery National Public School, run by the Bangalore-based Chanakya Bharathi Foundation and Hindu Seva Prathishtana, provides quality education for underprivileged children.
The event, titled “Nandh Eshwara Nandh Mukundha†— a thematic dance presentation on Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva — will be held at Chinmaya Somnath Auditorium in Chantilly, Virginia.
According to the organizer, Chanakya Bharathi, all the proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward improving the infrastructure of the school and building individual classrooms. The funds will also help expand the school facilities to accommodate around 200 children from low income families, it said.
Salangai Arts is run by Washington-area-based artistic director Akila Subramanyam.
