Singer and lyricist Katy Perry on Tuesday shared an image of Hindu goddess Kali on Instagram with a caption ‘current mood’ and got slammed by Indians for disrespecting the goddess of feminine energy.
Perry, who has 63.5 million followers on Instagram, posted the image of goddess Kali on her wall on Tuesday night and next day found the post bombarded with comments that criticized her act. Until now the post has received 254,284 likes and more than 11.9K comments.
Even though some fans came supporting Perry, a majority visitors of the post lambasted her for positing the picture of the goddess as a meme, calling it an insult to the Hindu religion.
Many people asked her to delete the post as soon as possible and advised the singer to understand the story behind the picture.
“This is our God. How could you compare your mood with this,†one fan wrote.
“She did not say anything objectionable. Stop getting offended. Show some class,†another user said.
