Modi called for further enhancing exchanges with the US Congress.
The eight-member bipartisan US Congress delegation that has been on a two-day visit to India met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
The delegation led by House of Representatives’ top Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, also has Indian American congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, in addition to Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner, Eliot Engel, Jim McGovern, Betty McCollum, Judy Chu, Joyce Beatty.
The delegation had earlier met the spiritual leader of the Tibetans, Dalai Lama, at Dharamshala on Wednesday, causing displeasure to China.
The eight-member delegation was welcomed by Modi, who discussed possibilities of strengthening the partnership between India and the US. He also took the opportunity to thank the delegation for the support of the US congress in building the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
During the discussion, the delegation shared their views on the bilateral partnership and other issues that are of interest to both the countries. There is no information on whether the issue of H-1B visa came up for the discussion.
