The 26-year-old Mubeen Ahmed is admitted at the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley
An Indian American student was shot at by an unidentified person in a California departmental store, on June 4.
The 26-year-old Mubeen Ahmed is critical and is admitted at the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, Hindustan Times reported.
Ahmed, who hails from Telangana, is pursuing his MS from California University and worked at the departmental store as part time employee. He went to US in 2015 after completing B Tech in electronic and communication from Royal Institute of Technology and Science in Dameriguda, Telangana.
The incident happened at 6 pm on June 4 when Ahmed was about to finish his duty at the store and return to his apartment in Fremont.
A few black persons entered his place and demanded money and his mobile phone. This lead to an argument and one of the miscreants opened fire at Ahmed, before fleeing the spot, Ahmed’s uncle Mufti Aslam Osman told the Hindustan Times.
“He was immediately rushed to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. The bullets pierced into his abdomen and liver,” Osman said adding that he is said to be on a ventilator and his condition is critical.
Ahmed’s relatives Chicago already reached California to attend him and his father Mujeeb Ahmed, who works at a military institution in Secunderabad, is also preparing to go to the US.
Sangareddy MLA Chinta Prabhakar and Telangana irrigation minister T Harish Rao is making visa arrangements for Mujeeb, the newspaper reported.
“Mujeeb would leave for US after getting the visa in a day or two,” Osman added.
