The ongoing Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad, India, signifies strong US-India relations.
Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) that began in Hyderabad on Tuesday is going with much fanfare and is expected to enhance trade cooperation especially between the US and India.
“The GES is the preeminent annual entrepreneurship gathering that convenes emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and supporters from around the world, and we are excited about the focus that this year’s GES puts on the US-India bilateral relationship,” White House spokesperson Heather Nauert said during a press briefing on Tuesday.
The three-day event will conclude on Thursday. The eighth annual GES is significant in many ways as it is the first time that this summit is being hosted in South Asia. This is also the first time that GES is witnessing more than 50 percent women-participation adding to this year’s agenda to promote and encourage women entrepreneurship.
“This is the eighth annual GES, and the first time the GES has taken place in South Asia,” Nauert said. “It is the first time that more than 50 percent of the participants are women.”
In total, more than 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors, and supporters of entrepreneurs from 150 countries are expected to attend the summit. “There’s also American entrepreneurs and investors from 38 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico,” Nauert said. “The State Department worked with U.S. embassies around the world to identify entrepreneurs who demonstrated a need for investment, mentorship, and business partnerships.”
Senior Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump is leading the US delegation to the summit. “… we’re certainly proud of what she’s [Ivanka Trump] been able to accomplish, and I can think of no better representative for the U.S. Government to talk about women’s entrepreneurship than her,” Nauert added.
The spokesperson said the GES will help to promote entrepreneurship and economic growth in the United States, India, and around the world.
