Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the UN, was pranked by two Russian comedians and managed to make her comment on an imaginary island.
The comedians Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov called Ambassador Haley posing as Polish government officials and talked to her about an island that doesn’t exist reported The Hill.
In a video posted by the comedians, a woman identified as Haley can be heard talking to them believing that she is speaking to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
According to the report, the call was made hours after the voting at the UN against the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was over.
Poland was one of the countries that abstained from voting on the issue.
“Let me start with very much thanking you for the support we received on the vote today. We will never forget it,” Haley says.
After the voting at the UN, Haley had stated that the US would take note of the stance taken by the nations on the resolution condemning the US decision on Jerusalem.
Then the man posing as Morawiecki asks Haley about a fake island.
“You know Binomo?” the man said, to which Haley replied “yes, yes.”
“They had elections and we suppose Russians had its intervention,” the man said.
“Yes, of course, they did, absolutely. We’ve been watching that very closely, and I think we will continue to watch that as we deal with the issues that keep coming up about the South China Sea,” replies Haley.
He then asks Haley what the US was going to do about it.
“Let me find out exactly what our stance is on that, and what if anything the US is doing or thinks should be done, and I will report back to you on that as well,“ she replied during the 22-minute long conversation.
Haley’s office hasn’t made any comment on the authenticity of the video to The Post and Courier.
John Degory, a spokesman for Haley said they “have nothing to share on that at this time.”
