“Indian American Community Engagement Survey” is the first ever comprehensive survey of its kind.
Indian American organization Indiaspora is conducting a survey to gauge the community’s engagement and attitudes toward giving.
The “Indian American Community Engagement Survey,” conducted in partnership with the strategic advisory firm Dalberg Advisors, is the first ever comprehensive survey of its kind, according to the organization.
“We are looking at community engagement and attitudes towards giving of the entire Indian American community rather than just the high net worth individuals,” Indiaspora Executive Director Sanjeev Joshipura told the American Bazaar. “What we learn from this will help us as a community make a more impactful, meaningful, and sustainable contribution to the Indian American and Indian community at large.”
(The American Bazaar is a partner of the survey.)
Indiaspora will announce the preliminary survey results at an event in Washington, DC, on July 17, Joshipura said.
According to the organization, the ultimate goal of the survey is to “learn more about the perspectives and ideas of Indian Americans, the diverse ways in which we give back as a community, and how we can collectively achieve more informed, impactful change.”
Besides better identifying the issues that are of importance to members of the Indian American community, Indiaspora said the survey results would help philanthropic and nonprofit groups to better understand and serve their specific constituencies.
Besides the American Bazaar, other survey partners include the American India Foundation, Arogya World, Desis for Progress, Ekal Vidyalaya, the Hindu American Foundation, the Indian American Impact Project, theKailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, Pratham USA and the SABA North America (South Asian Bar Association of North America).
The data will be anonymized, aggregated and analyzed by Dalberg, Indiaspora and its expert advisers.
Founded by the Silicon Valley entrepreneur M.R. Rangaswami six years ago, Indiaspora’s mission is help transform “the success of Indian Americans into meaningful impact in India” and worldwide.
