The Omi Show, co-hosted by The American Bazaar film critic Vikrum Mathur, will premiere on April 8.
Omi Vaidya, the funny guy who made the audiences burst into peals of laughter with his portrayal of Chatur Ramalingam in the Aamir Khan-starrer Bollywood movie 3 Idiots seems to be on a roll and trying different broadcast mediums.
The latest arena the Indian American actor is venturing into is radio. Titled The Omi Show, the program will be aired on Rukus Avenue, a popular South Asian radio station available to monthly listeners on Dash Radio. The show will be premiering on Monday April 8.The Washington-based Vaidya, who gave his unique touch to comic acting in Bollywood, has been since then remembered for his funny bone. In the show, too, he promises to infuse his humor.
“The show will be a sometimes light, sometimes deep discussion of society’s present-day issues but through the lens of the South Asian experience,†Vaidya told American Bazaar. “But I also throw in hilarious stories, jokes, and we play fun old ’90s Bollywood songs to pair with the week’s topic.â€
The show would be co-hosted by Vikrum Mathur, The American Bazaar’s very own film critic. “I’m immensely proud to have this opportunity to co-host The Omi Show with Omi Vaidya,†Mathur said. “This will be a unique, entertaining and insightful experience for all listeners and everyone will find aspects of the show that they will be able to relate to. It’s a show that is extremely relevant in today’s world.”
Vaidya is currently seen on Metro Park, a funny, relatable series now running on the OTT platform Eros Now, where he plays an expectant father. With his new radio show, Vaidya shows how it can be interesting to see actors dabble across mediums and reach out to their fans.
The Omi Show will be aired every Monday at 4 pm PST and Tuesday at 12 pm GMT on rukusavenueradio.com and on the Dash Radio App.
