A campaign worker for a rival candidate endorses Palathingal.
The campaign of Indian American Vinson Palathingal, who is running for the Fairfax County School Board as an at-large candidate, got a shot in the arm when it received an endorsement from a full-time volunteer for a rival candidate.
John Bushman, who volunteered for the campaign of Democrat Rachna Sizemore Heizers, endorsed Palathingal on Sunday.
“As a former full time volunteer for Rachna Sizemore Heizers campaign, I can assure to the people of Fairfax that there is a plot within the Democrat School Board Candidates to deceive, remain silent and misinform the people of Fairfax about future School boundary changes,” Bushman wrote in an email endorsing Palathingal.

“He came and talked to me after a recent debate, and I had some good feelings then,” Palathingal, an information technology entrepreneur, told the American Bazaar. “I never thought he will endorse me. I am delighted that he did. What it shows is that my campaign, which is based on issues, is getting real traction.”
Palathingal, a conservative businessman who is campaigning on the issues of academic rigor, fiscal prudence and transparency, has already received several big endorsements.
Former Virginia Governor and Senator George Allen was one of the first to endorse the Fairfax resident. “Susan and I sent our three children through Fairfax County Schools and we know the importance of welcoming parental involvement and honest high academic standards,” Allen said in April while endorsing Palathingal. “We know Vinson shares our vision of a school system that rewards hard work, academic excellence and opportunities for all.”
If elected, Palathingal will become the first Indian American to serve on the board of the Fairfax County Public Schools, the tenth largest school system in the United States.
Here’s the endorsement letter from Fairfax resident John Bushman:
Dear people of Fairfax,
As a former full time volunteer for Rachna Sizemore Heizers campaign, I can assure to the people of Fairfax that there is a plot within the Democrat School Board Candidates to deceive, remain silent and misinform the people of Fairfax about future School boundary changes. Draft 8130.8 and the Fairfax One Policy clearly show their true intentions of prioritizing a social experiment than the actual betterment of students. YOUR child could be relocated to a different school not because of overcrowding, academic or safety reasons but because of the color of their skin. Busing and racial quotas are likely coming to Fairfax. I learned the truth the hard way by becoming a member of the campaign but many aren’t informed. In my experience, people from all political spectrums are angry and in disbelief when they learn the truth about these future School boundary changes. Their policy is controversial and unpopular and is why Democrats are silent on this issue. Do your own research and become a better informed voter come November 5th. I certainly have done mine.
After careful consideration of the policy positions proposed by Vinson Xavier Palathingal, a candidate for one of the 3 At-Large seats on the school board, I have decided to endorse him. His clarity of thought, non-political agenda, parent focus and transparent style coupled with his advocacy for academic excellence is what we need for FCPS now. I urge all of you to support him in this election.
Sincerely,
John Bushman
