Four more new countries from the Africa region have reported COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 186 countries/areas/territories in the world under the grip of the disease.
In the U.S., the number of cases and deaths more than doubled in two days. March 22nd saw the peak in the number of cases and deaths since the start of the epidemic in the US.
Out of the total 162,836 cases in Europe, around 29 % is from Italy alone and another 20% from Spain.
Italy continues with the devastating situation reporting 46,638 confirmed cases, with 5,476 deaths so far. Italy reported 793 deaths in a day. Majority of the cases reported are in northern Italy with 38 % from Lombardia region alone.
Spain, another hotspot in Europe continues to report at an increased rate with 33,089 cases and 4,517 deaths so far.
