Third Indian American student to go missing this year.
By Deepak Chitnis
WASHINGTON, DC: Reny Jose, an Indian American 21 year-old student at Rice University, has gone missing during spring break festivities in Florida.
Incidentally, this is the third Indian American student who has gone missing in the last few weeks, and whose parents are originally from Kerala. Jasmine Joseph, 22, a nursing student from New York has been missing for over a week now. Southern Illinois University student Pravin Varughese was found dead in Carbondale after missing for six days.
Jose was staying with friends in a two-story house on Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach, a beach town in northern Florida that has a shoreline on the Gulf Coast. Jose’s friends told investigators that they last saw him on Monday night around 7:00 PM, and police found Jose’s clothes and a few personal effects in a garbage can not far from the house they were renting.
The police were contacted that Jose was missing at around 11:30 AM Tuesday morning, and now local law enforcement have choppers scouring the area looking for any sign of the missing mechanical engineering student.
Jose’s family have now come to town to aid the police in their investigation, while Jose’s friends who accompanied him on spring break are now heading back home in light of his disappearance.
Jose is originally from New York, and graduated from Shaker High School in Latham, Albany County, New York. He is a member of Martel College, a residential community at Rice University, which is located in Houston, Texas.
A “Find Reny Jose” Facebook page has been created to help aid the search effort, which has already garnered 1,660 Likes. According to the information on the Facebook page’s flyer, Jose is 5’10”, about 185 pounds, and the beach house that he was renting out is on the 21000 block of Front Beach Road, which is a beachside street.
Those with any information about Jose’s potential whereabouts are encouraged to call the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 785-TIPS.

Believe me, Reny Jose was a rich kid himself, attending an expensive good University, Rice. He was 21 and should have known his “white friends” better.
Our humble Prayers to have Reny Joseph return home safe..
He joined the group from his school for the ‘spring break’ at
Panama city,Florida,as per news media and or friends..This
event at this place is notorious for illegal mischief and parties.
Not sure,if Reny was used as a target by others and missing.
Lot of bad news about this location and the college will not
take any responsibility into this investigation..The communityy
must get together with a private investigator and the police
authorities on notice to pursue the case to find Reny.Maybe,
hiring a local attorney alongwith the investigators will help.
The Indian community could assist with time and mondey to
resolve this case and to avoid further incidents of this nature
in the future..
Our thoughts and Prayers to the Prents, relatives and friends.
May God help with his abundant wisdom at times of pain and
sorrow.
HOPE for the best.
