BANGALORE: Vidya Balan recently revealed that she does not get offered films where she would star opposite any of the Khans, the most formidable stalwarts in Bollywood. According to Vidya, she is not keen on doing any such films, and does not think that she will fit well in any commercial entertainer.
“I don’t miss working with them. There has to be a script that has enough for me to do. It has to be exciting for me. I have never looked for films where I can work with certain actors. I have never planned my career. I have only responded to scripts that came my way. To be working with (known) actors or new actors, I don’t plan my career that way. I have a different approach. And I am very happy with the kind of work I am doing,” Vidya told the Press Trust of India.
Vidya, who had recently revealed to the media that 3% of all women oriented films are offered to her, has certainly gained a lot of popularity for those types of roles. Her films like Kaahani, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture, Isqiya, and most recently Bobby Jasoos which will hit the theaters on July 4 are all films which are women-centric in nature. Even in films like Paa, where she starred opposite Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan, her character was strong.
“I have not really got offers (for films with Khans) … Not in the past seven years. I don’t see myself fitting into those kind of films honestly,” she added. Vidya who entered Bollywood with Parineeta, starring opposite Saif Ali Khan, later went on to star in the Munnabhai sequel opposite Sanjay Dutt. Of course, for a few years she played the traditional heroine, who is merely a supporting character compared to the hero, but slowly over the years she chose roles in which the scope of her characters would be much more magnified.
After Bobby Jasoos, Vidya will start shooting for Humari Adhuri Kaahani directed by Mohit Suri, opposite Emraan Hashmi and Rajkumar Rao.
