Hindus, Jains and some Sikhs in the country are celebrating the festival of Rakshabandhan on the auspicious full-moon day (Shravan Poornima). Sisters tied rakhi, the sacred thread, to their brothers across the country praying for their well-being.
Apart from being celebrated in India, this festival is also famous in Mauritius and Nepal. It is also being observed by people of Indian origin around the world.
