Fun day on twitter for cricket stats.
British journalist Piers Morgan was trolled on social media after he criticized India’s performance at the recently concluded Rio Olympics.
Morgan took to Twitter to express his disagreement with India celebrating two medal victories at the Olympics.
“Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?” Morgan tweeted.
Soon, taking note of his comment, twitterati came up with retorts to Morgan. Among them were noted personalities like writer Chetan Bhagat, cricketer Virender Sehwag, and columnist Suhel Seth.
“We honor achievers Peirs.Top 3 in the world, despite 3rd world sports facilities isn’t loser. It is freaking amazing!” said Chetan Bhagat.
“We cherish every small happiness’, But Eng who invented Cricket,&yet2win a WC,still continue to playWC.Embarrassing?” Sehwag replied in the coolest way possible.
Soon, Morgan, who had decided to fight back, replied to Sehwag. “Very embarrassing, Legend. If @KP24 was playing, we’d win the WC. Just as we won T20 WC & he was Man of Series,” he tweeted.
Sehwag had a suitable reply to Morgan. “KP is a legend no doubt,bt wasnt he born in SA,&by ur logic Eng shd hv won 2007WC. Why hv prblm wid our ppl, celbrtng,” he said.
“What is even more embarrassing are your snivelling interviews as if you had a diaper in your mouth. Sad,” said Suhel Seth, to which, Morgan responded, “At least you’ll never have to worry about being one of my interviewees, Suhel. I only interview famous people.”
Aditya Hemrajani, a Twitter user posted the ICC rankings of the test, one day, and twenty 20 cricket matches to compare the position of Indian and England. “@piersmorgan You taught us cricket (your national sport) and this is how you’re doing…,” he tweeted.
However, some users supported the views of Morgan. Stand-up comedian Karan Talwar tweeted in support of the journalist. “Troll him all you want but @piersmorgan is right. The excessive celebration doesn’t quite match the result,” wrote Talwar.
