Jilani’s blatant lies on Voice of America.
The Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani has said Pakistan is “targeting all terrorists without any discrimination.”
Jilani’s comment comes at a time when terrorists from known terrorist groups blacklisted by the US and the UN are walking scot-free in the streets of Pakistan despite calls from the Obama administration and US lawmakers to buckle up its anti-terrorist operations, which are funded by the US.
Despite several attempts made by US senators and congressmen to force Pakistan to take a hard line against extremists, officials in Islamabad continue to harbor dreaded terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim.
The fact that Osama bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan’s Abbottabad area, despite the presence of a military base there, is evident that Pakistan’s anti-terrorism operation is a total farce.
The statement of Jilani that allegations of Pakistan supporting militants are ”baseless and unfounded,” comes at a time when Pakistan is sending suicide terrorists to India – the latest being the Baramulla attack where one Indian soldier was killed.
Jilani, who was sent back to Pakistan from India in 2003 for funneling money to separatist leaders, told Voice of America that Pakistan is ”fighting a battle against the proxies of Cold War.”
The declaration of Jilani come at a time when a petition seeking White House to designate Pakistan as a terrorist state has received more than 600,000 signatures, enough and more to get a response from President Obama.
Jilani was forced to explain Pakistan’s stand as US lawmakers continues to criticize it for its inaction and some of them standing by India on conducting surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
With Obama getting ready to demit office in January of next year, no major action is expected to be taken against Pakistan as the president would most probably leave it for the new administration to tackle.
