Tech giant Google on Tuesday launched “PhotoScan”, an app that helps users to scan and digitalize physical photographs directly from the Phone with high quality results.
The free-to-download app is available for both Android and iOS devices, and it detects edges, straightens the image, rotates it to the correct orientation and removes glare.
“We all have those old albums and boxes of photos that are some of our most treasured memories. Such as photos of your grandma when she was young, or of your childhood pet, and even that hairstyle you wish you could forget. But we just keep thinking about scanning the photos to preserve these moments, but never really get around to it. Well, here is an easy option,” the company said in a statement.
“Google is rolling out three easy ways to make your pictures look even better: a new and improved autos enhance, unique new looks, and advanced editing tools like improved auto enhance. Simply open a photo and then tap the pencil icon to start editing,” Google stated.
Scanned photos can be saved in one tap to Google Photos to organized, searchable, shared and safely backed up at high quality, the statement read.
