The official Twitter accounts of the congress party and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi appeared to have been hacked on Thursday.
Rahul Gandhi’s account came under a similar attack on Wednesday, with a series of obscene posts on his timeline and abusive tweets were posted the Congress’s account @INCIndia earlier Thursday night. The party’s website inc.in has also been found to be hacked.
Hackers removed Mr Gandhi’s profile picture and changed the title from @OfficeOfRG to Retarded Gandhi.
One of the hacked posts read “My family is a bunch of corrupt f*****g retarded t*** f****s”.
The Congress leader has filed a police complaint in connection with the Wednesday attack and he referred it as “a huge question mark on digital security.”
Congress called the hacking “unscrupulous, unethical and roguish” and blamed internet trolls for the act. A ‘fascist culture’ was behind the act, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted.
The tweets were deleted within 30 minutes and the account has now been restored.
@OfficeOfRG account is followed by 1.22 million people on the micro-blogging platform and official congress account has 1.3 million followers as on Thursday.
