SFIFF is one of the oldest film festivals in the United States.
The 60th San Francisco International Film Festival will honor Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, on April 14, at Castro Theater, following the screening of his 2010 hit movie My Name is Khan.
The “King Khan” of Bollywood will interact with fans onstage with director-producer Brett Ratner. Khan himself announced the news and said that he is looking forward to meeting Ratner.
“Honoured to be at at the 60th #SanFrancisco Int Film festival & looking forward to meeting my friend @BrettRatner. Also memories in SanFran,” the 51-year-old actor tweeted.
“It is a great honor to welcome one of the world’s most recognized film personalities,” SFFILM’s executive director Noah Cowan told variety.com.
“Above Shah Rukh Khan’s fame as an actor is a man known for his pervasive curiosity about the world around him, about technology, about our collective future. Khan is among the most engaging figures in any field and this night, in conversation with Hollywood wizard Brett Ratner, will be among the most memorable of this year’s festival events,” he added.
The other honorees of this year’s festival are Tom Luddy, James Ivory, Ethan Hawke and Lynn Hershman Leeson.
SFIFF, one of the oldest film festivals in the United States, will open with Gillian Robespierre’s’ 90s-set dramedy ‘Landline’on 5th April and the closing night film ‘The Green Fog – a San Francisco Fantasia’ will screen on 16th April.
