The first look poster of the movie had featured Hassan as a fierce warrior princess.
Just a week after the grand first-look poster launch event at the Cannes 2017, Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan is no more a part of Sundar C.-directed upcoming film Sangamithra.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, we are unable to proceed working with Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra,” The producers of the film, Sri Thenandal Films, tweeted on Monday.
The 31-year-old actress also confirmed the news and a spokesperson was quoted saying Haasan walked out of the movie as she didn’t receive any bound script or a proper calendar.
“Shruti has had to, unfortunately, take a call not to be part of Sangamithra. Knowing it was a massive undertaking and a long commitment spanning over 2 years, she knew the importance of her training, a comprehensive script and proper date calendar,” IANS quoted an official statement from Hassan’s spokesperson.
“She hired and started training with one of best combat trainers April onwards to make sure she was ready in time for shoot. Despite her enthusiasm and commitment to Sangamithra, she has had to give the film a miss since she had not received a proper bound script nor a proper date calendar,” the statement read.
Earlier, the first look poster of the movie featured Hassan as a fierce warrior princess, riding a horse with a sword in her hand. The movie has Jayam Ravi and Arya as chief male protagonists; and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman as the music director.
The $23 million film, set in the backdrop of India in the 8th Century AD, aims to portray some of the most captivating moments from India’s history by narrating a fictional tale. The film is expected to be released in three languages, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, simultaneously.
