Indian American DJ Aasheesh Paliwal, aka ShiShi, has released his new track on the occasion of Diwali with an aim to help underprivileged children in India.
The song titled Aarti is a mix of the devotional song O Palan Hare from the 2001 film Lagaan with stirring rhythm that sends out a good vibe on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.
“Happy Diwali to all my brothers and sisters across the globe. On this auspicious day, I’m proud to share my new single “Aarti,” Paliwal wrote on his Facebook page.
Paliwal has joined hands with charitable organization Pratham, that provides education to underprivileged children in India. He has agreed to pledge $1 for each share of his new release on his social media pages.
“I wanted to give something back to the country that has given me my heritage and culture. That’s why I’m pledging $1 for every share of this Facebook post to Pratham Education Foundation’s literacy and learning programs, which help improve the basic reading and math skills of young, underprivileged children in India,” Paliwal wrote.
“My goal is to reach 1,000 shares on this post, which would give the gift of basic literacy to 40 children! ” he added.
Born to Indian parents in the US, Paliwal’s tracks are the combination of different music styles and cultures.
Founded in 1994 by Dr. Madhav Chavan and Farida Lambay, Pratham aims to provide quality education to deprived children in India. Initially started in the slums of Mumbai has evolved into a national network reaching 50 million children and youth through literacy and vocational programs in 20 Indian states, establishing Pratham as one of the top non-governmental organizations dedicated to fostering universal literacy.
