The TED Talks-Star collaborative series showcases innovators and thinkers of Indian origin.
A seven-episode series showcasing innovators and thinkers of Indian origin, hosted by super star Shah Rukh Khan, premiered on the online digital platform Hotstar on December 10.
TED Talks India Nayi Soch is the first-ever collaborative program between TED Talks and a major Indian network. Star India is the Indian partner of the show. The Hindi language series is the is also the first TED Talks program in a language other than English, according to a press release issued by Hotstar, a video streaming platform for Indian TV shows, movies and live sports that is available in the USA and Canada.
On the show, featured guests speak for anywhere from three to five minutes. Khan’s first guest is Dr. Gautam Bhan, Academics & Research Lead at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements, who speaks about the housing problem in India.
Other guests featured in the first episode are industrial engineer Shubhendu Sharma, music composer Sneha Khanwalkar, physicist Manu Prakash, novelist Manju Kapoor and scientist Anirudh Sharma.
Hotstar offers full and unlimited access to more than 2000 movies and TV shows across eight languages with over 60,000 hours of content from popular Star channels, all in High Definition, the release said.
Hotstar is available on the web in the United States and Canada. It is also available on iOS AppStore, Android Google Play and Roku.
TED Talks India Nayi Soch is one of the several original Indian entertainment programs available on the platform. Another popular program is CinePlay, which “weave elements of cinema into stories from theatre.”
According to Hotstar, among its popular CinePlays are Dance Like a Man, Between the Lines, Bombay Talkies, Typecaste and Adhe Adhure.
The Indian channels available on the platform include Star Plus, Star Bharat, Asianet, Asianet Plus, Star Maa, Star Jalsha, Star Pravah, Star Utsav, Star Vijay and Star Sports.
