Indiaspora founder and Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur M. R. Rangaswami was featured in the latest podcast episode of “Politics and Spice” produced by the New Jersey Leadership Program (NJLP).
In the 40-minute long podcast, Rangaswami spoke about his journey from Chennai, India, to the Silicon Valley with just eight dollars in his pocket and how he found a mentor in Oracle Founder Larry Ellison and went onto become one of the earliest angel investors in Silicon Valley.
He also spoke about hosting the first South Asian Presidential Ball in 2013 and helping to get over four members of Indian background elected to Congress through his Indiaspora initiative.
Rangaswami is widely known for launching the Sand Hill Group, which provides strategic management, investment, and marketing services to emerging market leaders. He was also profiled in the Wall Street Journal and has been named on the Forbes Midas 100 List as one of the most influential investors in technology.
Indiaspora, which Rangaswami founded in 2012, hosted the first-ever South Asian Presidential Ball in 2013. His organization is also helping more Indian Americans get elected to public offices in addition to increasing the visibility of the Indian diaspora in the United States.
In 2007, Rangaswami founded the Corporate Eco Forum, an invitation-only membership organization for Global 500 companies that demonstrate a serious commitment to the environment as a business strategy issue.
During the podcast, he spoke about his recent achievements including the creation of a USPS Diwali stamp and his recent trilateral meeting with the leaders of India, Israel, and the US.
