In his new position, the 6-year Google veteran will report to the Google Cloud Managing Director.
Search engine giant Google on Tuesday named Nitin Bawankule as the head of Google Cloud, India.
Bawankule, who has been associated with Google for more than six years, is currently the head of sales for Google verticals. He will report to Google Cloud Managing Director Rick Harshman, who heads the Asia Pacific operation of Google.
Bawankule has over 20 years of experience serving major technology companies. Prior to his joining Google, he worked with Dell, Motorola Mobility, Whirlpool and Godrej.

“Nitin brings with him an excellent mix of digital, technical and consumer products sales experience. We are very excited to have him join our team and take our India story to the next level,” Harshman said.
Bawankule completed his post graduate diploma in management from IIM Bangalore. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from VNIT Nagpur.
He has wide experience working in industries ranging from Digital Consumer Electronics, Telecom, and IT.
According to Bawankule, by 2020, the public cloud services market in India is poised to reach $4.10 billion.

“Business leaders across industries are increasingly adopting cloud technology because they understand it helps solve a number of real challenges – teams work better together, data becomes useful to make smart decisions and companies create new value to stay competitive in a quickly changing economy,” Bawankule said.
While speaking at Google Digital Retail India 2020, he said, “By the year 2020, every fourth purchase in organized retail will be online.”
