Khan is being buried at 2.30 pm, Canadian time at the Meadowvale Cemetery in Canada.
Veteran Indian actor Kader Khan, who died due to a prolonged illness in Canada on New Years’ Eve, will be buried in a Canadian cemetery today. The rituals will take place in presence of his close family members.
Speaking to PTI, Khan’s son Sarfaraz, who is based in Canada, said: “The last rites will be performed here in Canada as we have our entire family here. He (Khan) is going to be buried at approximately 2:30 pm as per Canadian time at Meadowvale cemetery.”
Khan, who was 81 and had a legendary career in Indian cinema both as an actor and writer, was suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease that can cause problems such as dementia, difficulty walking and a gradual loss of balance.
Kader Khan spent the last few months of his life in Canada, where his elder son Sarfaraz lives. He was in the hospital for many weeks preceding his death.
Khan’s fans around the world, and particularly in North America, are looking ahead to bid the last farewell to the star. In Canada, where there is a large Indian community, the death of the actor was met with mourning.
His last screen outing was the 2015 film Hogaya Dimagh Ka Dahi by director Fauzia Arshi. The actor’s death is condoled by everyone from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
