A published poet and writer, Rajan has previously worked for The Times of India in New Delhi and The Sag Harbor Express in New York. He edited The Indian Express North American edition, based in New York, from 2001 to 2011. He was previously an anchor for Eye on South Asia, on Crossings TV, broadcast by Time Warner Cable. At present, he is also an editor-at-large of Global India Newswire. Among others, he is the recipient of the 2011 SAJA (South Asian Journalists Association) Award for Outstanding Editorial, the 2011 Ippie award (first place) for Best editorial/commentary, and the 2008 Justice and Community Reporting Award from the New York Community Media Alliance and the John Jay College Center on Media, Crime and Justice. Rajan has a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from Delhi University and a Master’s in Communication, Journalism and Public Affairs from American University, Washington, D.C.
